It started with a message thread that “proved” a public figure had said something outrageous. It looked real—familiar app chrome, avatar, timestamps. Ten minutes later, a second post surfaced debunking the first. Then a third claimed the debunk was part of a conspiracy. By lunch, the original images had been edited twice, re‑watermarked, and re‑posted with new captions.
